For many years I have been reminded that if you visualize your goals they WILL become real - so with the advent of Virtual Worlds we are truly able to visualize a life larger and richer than what we might have today - we are literally able to immerse ourselves in a new reality - what is wrong with wanting more, can technology make it real - are Virtual Worlds purely fantasy - or the newest form of positive visualization/affirmation to make things happen and to obtain the things we want - deserve ? - Andrew Peters

I think with your first statement, it can only happen if people believe in it real enough to work hard enough for it.

As for your second half, where do you draw the line between escapism and living a fulfilling virtual life? Gets real blurry in those areas, doesn't it?

Given the way Singaporeans are being boxed into their little HDBs, they are becoming exemplary of the movie Matrix. :)
